Second Tuesday strategies for parents at the Center for Childhood Development - September 9, 2008

Join us on the second Tuesday of each month for an informal presentation focusing on different topics. Next Strategy - September 9, 2008, 6:30 - 8:00 pm. Featuring: Special Needs Planning and “The Perfect Storm”. Presented by Steven G. Johnson CFP®, Certified Financial Planner ™, father of a 19 year old son with special needs.

The Perfect Storm:  “The simultaneous occurrence of events which, taken individually, would be far less powerful than the result of their chance combination.”  Wikipedia

1)      Over the following 20 years 77,000,000 Baby Boomers will cease paying into Government Benefit Programs such as Medicare and Social Security…and will begin drawing benefits.  In the coming decades, the cost of these programs will leap from 8.4% of gross domestic product (GDP) to 18.6% of GDP.

2)      Medical science is adding decades to the life expectancies for the general population… as well as those with special needs.

3)      The cost of medical care continues to increase as new treatments and therapies are developed that improve the quality of life for special needs individuals.

We will discuss the role of Lifestyle, Legal, Government Benefits and financial Planning along with practical and affordable steps you can take today to provide your son or daughter with a better life tomorrow.

To follow the format of the previous meetings, there will be an open discusion with parents and staff following the presentation.

The Second Tuesday strategies series are intended to offer an introduction to new topics, an open opportunity to learn about the Center for Childhood Development, meet the staff, and view the facility. These meetings are the perfect opportunity to invite friends, grandparents, or other members of your ‘team’ to visit the Center as well as hear new strategies for regulation in your home.

The Second Tuesday strategies is at 6:30 until 8:00 pm at The Center for Childhood Development. These presentations are offered as a no cost opportunity to learn, share and support.

There are no advanced reservations needed.

We look foward to meeting with old, current, and new friends.
